The military of Myanmar has taken over the country. They have also detained the state counselor of Myanmar, Aung San Suu Kyi, and a bunch of other leaders who had all been elected democratically. With that, the one who has taken charge of everything is the top army commander of the country. The TV of the military has also made the announcements of the executive of a state emergency of a whole year.

The military coup took place following the win of the party of Aung San Suu Kyi in the elections. It had been a landslide win. This was claimed to be a fraud by the army of Myanmar. The counselor made an urge to the supporters of her party with regard to the military coup. She requested them to fight against it.

Myanmar’s Suu Kyi Detained

Counselor Suu Kyi had written a letter concerning the impending detention that was put on her. She mentioned there that the actions of the military would bring back the country to the system of dictatorship.

The general public spoke on the streets of Yangon, the largest city of Myanmar. It was said that the tough struggles that people had been through, in order to bring democracy in the country, all went to the drain. It was said that the battle that was fought in order to establish democracy in the country, “had been lost.”

Myanmar was under the rule of the military until the year 2011. This was the year the country started witnessing reforms for democracy by the leader, Aung San Suu Kyi. That ended the undemocratic military rule in the country.

The coup unfolded in the morning of Monday. The station of the army’s TV made the announcement with regard to handling power by the commander-in-chief of Myanmar. It was announced that Min Aung Hlaing was now the one who was handling the affairs of the country.
