Kyle Larson had definitely seen better times as he witnessed a surreal downfall after uttering racial slurs at a virtual race. The NASCAR driver was first dropped by almost all of his sponsors, after which Chip Ganassi Racing delivered the final blow.
Interestingly, Larson was thought of as one of the most profitable free agents just three days back. ‘After much consideration, Chip Ganassi Racing has determined that it will end its relationship with driver Kyle Larson” was the official news from the company. This comes as a direct response to his racial abuse at a virtual game, which highlights a potential career downfall, and a loss of a 8 figure offer.
‘There is no excuse for that. I wasn’t raised that way. It is just an awful thing to say. I feel very sorry for my family, my friends, my partners, the NASCAR community and especially the African American community.’ While Larson did offer an apology for his actions all over social media, the damage was already done.
After most of his sponsors left him indefinitely, it became pretty hard for Ganassi Racing to hold onto him. In what was supposed to be one of the most exciting years of his life, Larson’s error in judgment could very well cost him his job.
