SNL at Home has been the latest development in the show’s long history. And for their first episode, Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin performed the acoustic version to Bob Dylan’s ‘Shelter From the Storm’.
Chris Martin had an elaborate setup at home. From recognizing SNL’s Grand Central Station’s themed stage with a poster of ‘Entrance to Trains’, Martin banged out an acoustic rendition of this uber-famous Dylan song which seems apropos at this point of time. With social distancing, and laws regarding quarantine, and lockdown, this song captures a greater meaning than what it was a couple of years back.
Martin has been doing his part for Together, At Home- A Solidarity based program instituted by WHO, where he sang acoustic versions of Coldplay songs, for people who were locked down due to COVID-19.
While this disease has racked up quite a rap sheet for the number of individuals killed, Martin believes that this is only the second time in the 21st century when people have all been unified, and have stood in solidarity. The first one being the infamous 9/11.
Bob Dylan also has released his epic ‘Murder Most Foul’, and has asked people to stay aware, and inside for the time being.
