City officials have reported that a part of the Chicago expressway which froze overnight due to sudden icy winds led to a massive pile-up of vehicles, leading to several of them being hospitalized. The pile-up took place at 5 am and involved close to 50 cars, which led to the Illinois government to close all expressways leading to Northern Chicago.

The fire department of Chicago sent 14 People to the hospital while keeping an eye on the 32 other passengers. The weather forecast spoke about how the heavy snowfall came forth, leaving a temperature, which was well below the freezing point. This led to a loss of traction in the Chicago Expressway, which the police have cordoned off.

This incident comes as an aftermath to several forecasts which claim that temperature across major parts of the USA has been colder than what is usual recently.
