Boys’ team of Armenian College, Kolkata wins the Centenary Plate

Kolkata, India - Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin's Armenian College and Philanthropic Academy (ACPA), Kolkata, India, Rugby Team recorded an impressive victory over Maidan Hazards in the finals of the tournament for the Centenary Plate on July 7.
On the 23rd June, 2012, in the Plate semifinals, our boys beat Frank Anthony Public School with a score of 35:05.
The Plate final was played on the 7th of July between the Armenians and the Maidan Hazards. The match turned out to be a gallant display of some great Rugby skills and actions from both the teams. The young opponents put up an outstanding performance. In the end, however, the opposition had to succumb to the ACPA team who played with greater determination and enviable skills.
The Armenian College and Philanthropic Academy Rugby Team thus won the Plate final by 27:05.
Very Rev. Father Khoren Hovhannisyan, Pastor of Armenians in India and the Manager of ACPA congratulated Armen Apelian, the Team Coach and all the players for this significant success and also blessed his wards in their future endeavours in the games.
Armenian College Rugby Team will also be playing two more important tournaments this year - "Calcutta Cup" after a few weeks and the "All India Cup" in September.
