The 19-year-old saxophonist, singer, composer and arranger has played at Lincoln Center and was voted Best Jazz Act in Boston for the past four years. February 11, Boston. The Lexington, Mass.-based Armenian Sisters' Academy (ASA) will celebrate three decades of academic excellence at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel. Armenia's First Ambassador to the US, and former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Rouben Shugarian will offer remarks during the evening's festivities. The ASA celebration will recognize and honor the accomplishments and successes of the school thanks to the gifted faculty and dedicated parents. "Unseen Sights of Armenia," illustrated talk by local historian Joe Dagdigian at ARS Community Center, 142 Liberty St., Lowell, sponsored by the Lowell "Aharonian" Gomideh in observance of the Feb. 18th 1921 anti-Soviet revolt in Armenia. Program will include archaeological and nature scenes, along with current projects and sites in Tiflis, Georgia and Javakh. Mezza and coffee with pastries will be served. Complimentary admission.
February 13, 7 PM, Belmont, Mass. The National Association for Armenian Studies and Research (NAASR) will offer a five-week "Visual Journey Through Armenian History" presented by Joe Dagdigian beginning Monday, February 13 and running through March 12, 2012. Each session will take place from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the NAASR Center, 395 Concord Ave., Belmont, MA. Fees for "A Visual Journey Through Armenian History" are as follows: $100 for non-NAASR members (if Mr. & Mrs., 2 for $180); $85 for current NAASR Members (if Mr. & Mrs., 2 for $150); and $25 for full-time students. A portion of the proceeds from this class will be donated to the Shengavit Historical and Archaeological Cultural Preserve in Armenia. Joe Dagdigian previously offered a version of the course as a non-credit personal enrichment course at Middlesex Community College.
