A note from the Publisher
Published: Friday January 29, 2010
Dear Reader,
We have been publishing The Armenian Reporter in multiple editions: an Eastern U.S. Edition, a Western U.S. Edition, an Armenia Edition, and an online edition, http://www.reporter.am/.
As we have built up the online edition, we have found that as many people are taking advantage of it as are reading our three print editions. The choice makes sense: the online edition is free of charge; it is available before the print editions are delivered by mail; it allows immediate access to earlier relevant content without the reader having to rifle through old newspapers; and it often features content unavailable in print, such as video and additional color photos.
If the Internet was once seen as primarily the domain of younger readers, it is now clear that readers of all ages are taking advantage of the content we make available at no cost online.
In these circumstances, the substantial cost of producing and distributing a weekly, high-quality, colorful print publication is no longer a justifiable expense. If we are to invest, we prefer to do so in the quality of our content and in improving our online distribution channels.
Thus, we have decided, effective immediately, to make The Armenian Reporter a Web-only publication and cease publishing our print editions. Naturally, we are issuing prorated refunds to our print subscribers.
For those reading The Armenian Reporter online, we look forward to continuing to serve you as a primary source of news and views on issues of Armenian interest in the days, weeks, and years ahead at our web site http://www.reporter.am/.
Sincerely yours,
Gerard L. Cafesjian
