Ara Harutiunian, prime minister of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, last week began a tour of Armenian communities in New York, Boston, and California. The visit preceded the annual pan-Armenian fundraiser on Thanksgiving Day, November 26.

While at the United Nations headquarters in New York on November 18, Mr. Harutiunian argued that international recognition of NKR's independence and the republic's U.N. membership were just a matter of time, his press office reported.

He also commended Armenia's Mission to the United Nations for its efforts to inform U.N. member states about Karabakh.

Former NKR president Arkady Ghoukasian, who is now an Armenian presidential envoy, and Artsakh's Primate, Archbishop Barkev Martirossian, were also taking part in the Telethon.
