Businessperson David Krikorian emerged as the frontrunner to clinch the Democratic Party's nomination for member of Congress representing Ohio's second congressional district after state representative Ted Book pulled out, state and national media reported on November 24.

Mr. Book, whom Mr. Krikorian described in an interview last August as a "party insider," was favored by the Ohio Democratic Party, particularly the state's governor.

But the state representative's campaign failed to take off and his fundraising fell behind Mr. Krikorian's, who has been largely funding his own campaign.

The withdrawal left Mr. Krikorian as the only candidate seeking the Democratic Party's nomination in primaries next May, ahead of the general election in November.

The incumbent in the district, which includes parts of Cincinnati, Republican Jean Schmidt, is also facing a primary challenge; and there are two other individuals running as independents.
