As a part of this year's prestigious Palm Springs Short Film Festival, Hove (The Wind) will screen in-competition.

The short film features Oscar-winning actress Olympia Dukakis (Moonstruck, Away from Her) as Zara, and Armenian-American actress Shirleyann Kaladjian (A Dirty Shame) as Nina.

Hove (The Wind) portrays the story of two Armenian women and how their relationship is deeply affected by a chance encounter with the past and the powerful, unresolved legacy of the Armenian Genocide.

It is the newest short film from writer and director Alex Webb. Webb's previous work has screened at the Houston International Film Festival, Clermont-Ferrand, and has won him a Panavision New Filmmaker Award.

The film "doesn't ask for sympathy," Olympia Dukakis said. "What it does do is give you the opportunity to feel deeply what the Genocide means in these people's lives - in all our lives."

The world premiere of the short film will take place on June 27, at 8 p.m., at the Camelot Theatres, 2300 E Baristo Road, Palm Springs.

Milton Kam served as director of photography. He is best known for his Spirit Award-nominated cinematography on Vanaja which won the Silver Bear at Berlinale. He has also won the Kodak Vision Award for the Creative Use of Cinematography.
