Arts brief: Luna to feature Leslie Ayvazian’s Lovely Day

Published: Saturday May 16, 2009

Playwright Leslie Ayvazian.

Glendale, Calif. - Saturday, May 16, is the opening night of Lovely Day, a play by Leslie Ayvazian (author of Nine Armenians), at the Luna Playhouse.

A teenager, Brian, has been approached by Army recruiters who have set up a desk at his school. He has given them his name, but he does not know what for. The play intertwines antiwar polemics with a domestic drama, where a couple's marriage is threatened by their disagreements over where parents' rights and duties begin and end.

Directed by Aramazd Stepanian, this staging stars Lana Young, Jonaton Wyne, and Nickolas Ballard.

On opening night and Saturday, May 23, the play starts at 8 p.m. On May 17 and 24, both Sundays, the play starts at 3. A "pay what you can" performance is scheduled for Thursday, May 21, at 8 p.m.

A limited number of tickets (10) may be purchased at half price for Saturday and Sunday performances. At www.itsmyseat.com enter the code GWPh0905.
