From Armenia in brief: First ever “Best Volunteer of the Year” held in Armenia

Yerevan - In cooperation with the UN volunteer program, the Youth for the Sake of Peace and Development non­governmental organization (NGO) held an awards ceremony for the best volunteer of the year. The event is dedicated to the International Day of Volunteering.

According to Armenpress Anna Yeghoyan, head of programs for the Youth for the Sake of Peace and Development NGO said that almost 50 individuals and organizations applied to take part in the event.

The main objective is to help create and promote the spirit of volunteerism in Armenia and instigate cooperation between different NGOs, youth centers, social centers and organizations, which are based on volunteer work.

A five-member commission will choose a winner in the following four categories: best volunteer of the year, best coordinator of volunteers, the most experience volunteer and the best organization of the year that deals with volunteerism.
