From Armenia in brief: Armenia to take part in European Figure Skating championship

Yerevan - The head of Armenia's Skating Federation, Samvel Khachatrian announced on Wednesday that Armenia will be taking part in the European Figure Skating championships that are going to take place in Helsinki, Finland beginning January 17, 2009. Gegham and Ani Vardanians will be representing Armenia at that competition.

According to Samvel Khachatrian, there is a possibility that American­-Armenian figure skater Pier Balian might represent Armenia in the 2010 Winter Olympic Games scheduled to take place in Vancouver, Canada.  At present, the issue of Pier Balian's Armenian citizenship is being resolved. Balian is trained by well-known Armenian coach is Rafael Harutyunian.
