Published: Saturday September 20, 2008

The Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Thomas Hammarberg, at a session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) monitoring commission presented an oral report on Armenia's implementation of Resolution 1620 that was adopted after the events of March 1 following the presidential elections. According to Arminfo, in his report Commissioner Hammarberg said that there are still issues which need to be thoroughly assessed. He went on to say that although there has been some progress, further serious steps need to be taken. PACE's session to be held at the end of September will not cover the issue on Armenia; only the Monitoring Commission will adopt a relevant statement.
